Year: Junior in Fall 2017
Position: Marketing Intern at Rasky Partners, a Public Relations firm in Boston
Q: What time do you come to work?
A: My internship is from Tuesday-Thursday each week, and my work day starts at 10 am. I usually leave my house at 8:30 am and take public transportation into the city. Then I walk about 10 minutes to my office building.
Q: What is the first thing you do after arriving at work?
A: The first thing I do when I sit down at my desk is check my email and chat with my office mate Zach, who is also part of the marketing team.
Q: How would you describe your work?
A: My job consists mainly of drafting press releases, and compiling media lists for events and email marketing campaigns. Sometimes I also do graphic design work, creating one pagers and company websites. I’m currently minoring in Digital Art and Design, so I love assignments where I can be creative and use my design skills!
Q: What is your lunch time and/or break time scene like?
A: I usually eat lunch at my desk while reading The New York Times or The New Yorker, but sometimes I go out to eat with my fellow interns! Last week we grabbed lunch at a nearby cafe and sat outside while eating. We also have intern lunches every week, hosted and catered by different departments in the company.
Q: What time do you end your work?
A: I leave work at 4:00 pm every day, and begin the commute home.
Q: What are some things that you enjoy at work?
A: I really enjoy the graphic design elements of my work as well as the writing aspects. I pretty much love anything that allows me to be creative. The people I work with are great, and through cultural events, company outings, and free ice cream days, they have created a fun and welcoming work environment.
